Lake-museum. The largest lake in Macedonia hides relic and endemic fish and other plants and animals. Under the blue waters of the lake one can still find intact artifacts dating from the childhood of humanity. 31 km long and wide half as that, the third oldest lake in Europe is almost 300 meters deep, with an altitude of nearly 700 meters. Most important lake ecosystem in Europe is protected by UNESCO. Silicate endemic algae, green algae, flat worms, snails and crabs; five species and one subspecies of sponges, 10 species of endemic fish. Home of trout, indigenous species that can be found only in Lake Ohrid. In the Gulf of Bones, archaeologists discovered traces of a prehistoric city above water, which is now partially reconstructed.
