Meet with your guide at the hotel lobby in Ohrid in the morning. The tour will start with a visit to the St Sofia church. The treasure of medieval architecture and painting. Frescoes are best-preserved examples of Byzantine monumental activities which took place in the period between the 10th and 13th centuries. Center of the Ohrid Archbishopric, whose boundaries stretched from the Danube to Albania and Thessaloniki, during the reign of the medieval Macedonian ruler Samuel.
Frescoes which depict fifty prominent fathers of that time, the head of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, six Roman popes, dignitaries of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem, as well as St. Cyril and Methodius and their student St.Clement of Ohrid. This is a church which, during Ottoman rule, was converted into a mosque, but was later restored as a church. Today this building is a place for conducting various cultural chamber concerts, recitals, and poetry readings.
Later we will visit the Ancient Theatre, St Virgin Mary Perivleptos church, Ohrid`s Icon of Gallery and Tsar Samuil fortress as well as Plaosnik and St Jovan Kaneo church; built on one of the most beautiful places on the shore of Lake Ohrid. Situated on a high cliff in the old town, above the former fishing village Kaneo (the Latin means: luminous). Medieval church St. John the Theologian of the XIII century is also known under this name. Optional, lunch in one of the many restaurants by the lake.
