DAY 1: WELCOME TO Skopje
Meeting with a Macedonia Travel representative at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Skopje. Afternoon hike on Mount Vodno, rising from the center of the city. Dinner will be in the Bohemian quarter of Skopje, where we will discuss the tour logistics and local customs while sampling Macedonian grilled cheese, peppers, and courgettes.
Overnight in a hotel in Skopje.

DAY 2: Matka Canyon
Take a hike along the historical trail in Matka Canyon. It was once a place where only Orthodox monks lived in monasteries built on the rocks. Today it is also a nature reserve, home to the golden eagle and Egyptian vulture, as well as more than 200 butterfly species. After lunch, we will take a boat ride along the canyon to one of the deepest caves in the region — Vrelo Cave. Drive to Popova Shapka in the Šar Mountain range for dinner and overnight in a mountain hut.

DAY 3: TITO’S PEAK
Hike to Titov Vrv, named after Marshal Tito — an all-day tour full of panoramic views of Šar Planina and the Jakupica range, Pelister, Korab, and even the Rila Mountains in Bulgaria. Below the peak lies one of the most beautiful alpine areas in Macedonia — Leshnica, with pine forests, deep river valleys, and impressive rock faces. Dinner and overnight in a mountain hut.

DAY 4: JOIN THE SHEPHERDS ON MT. BISTRA
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic two-hour drive through the mountains and along the Radika River canyon to Mavrovo National Park. Today’s hike starts from Bitushe village to one of the peaks bordering Albania, Krchin Peak. It is a moderate to demanding 7-hour hike with fantastic views over Macedonia and Albania. Continue with a 1-hour 20-minute drive to a village above Lake Ohrid, famous for its traditional hospitality and delicious homemade dishes. Dinner and overnight in a guesthouse in Vevchani.

DAY 5: Ohrid & GALICICA NATIONAL PARK
After a hearty village breakfast, choose between two hiking options:
A 6–7 hour scenic hike on the same mountain, starting from Gorna Belica village to Crn Vrv peak. After the hike, drive to Ohrid, explore the town, and have dinner by the lake.
Drive to Ohrid and your guesthouse on the Ohrid Riviera. From here, take an easy-to-moderate hike along a forest path to Gorno Konsko village. Enjoy beautiful views of Lake Ohrid and experience the rural traditions of this nearly abandoned village. Afternoon free in Ohrid Old Town, followed by dinner by the lake.
Overnight in Lagadin village (7 km from Ohrid).

DAY 6: GALICICA NATIONAL PARK
Morning drive (about 30 min) to the Galicica mountain pass, rising like a huge whale between Lakes Ohrid and Prespa. From here, start a 4–5 hour hike to Magaro Peak, offering magnificent views over both lakes and the surrounding fishing villages. Continue driving to Prespa Lake and then to Bitola, once known as the city of consulates and embassies and still one of the most beautiful cities in Macedonia. Join the evening promenade along Bitola’s main cobblestoned street and dine in one of its traditional restaurants.

DAY 7: TRESKAVEC
After breakfast, drive to King Marko’s Towers above Prilep, where you begin a moderate 5-hour hike to Treskavec Monastery — a 14th-century church hidden among the boulders of Zlatovrv (Gold Mountain). It is worth visiting for its Byzantine treasures, the remains of a 2nd-century Apollo temple, and a relaxing tea with Father Kalist, the resident Orthodox priest. Afternoon drive to Skopje with a stop to visit the ancient city of Stobi and enjoy premium Macedonian wines with dinner at Stobi Winery.
